History
Shortly before the release of The Frozen Throne, I became involved helping Shvegait test Burbenog TD. A group of his friends and playtesters gathered in channel "Dude Stuff," which, upon the release of TFT, became the basis for Clan TDG. I was one of the initial Shamen when the clan was created, and have continued to hold that rank for the entire history of TDG.
After some additional mapmakers and playtesters (mainly CHUNK and his friends/testers) joined TDG, I became heavily involved in playtesting both Burbenog TD (Shvegait) and Fiend TD. In both maps, I quickly earned a reputation for abusing/exploiting everything possible in order to win, and was responsible for a variety of "strategies" being nerfed or fixed.
With some long-gone members such as Kessler, The_Shadows, w0w_, and Redw00f, we played Burbenog almost non-stop, beating hard difficulty multiple times (a feat back then, but now considered easy by most experienced Burbenog players). We discovered and developed a variety of methods to systematically defeat hard difficulty, resulting in a variety of balance tweaks and bug fixes over the course of those early TFT versions. Along with CHUNK's playtesters such as LiquidSmoke and Pezzam, we also played Fiend repeatedly, employing a variety of different strategies and gameplay styles (siege, defense, heroes) to get to the "final" balance that Fiend has.
After these initial two maps, and with additional playtesters and mapmakers joining, Clan TDG began to grow in size, and so we developed an application for prospective members wishing to join. I was put in charge of handling these applications, which, at that time, were emailed to me. I would then post them on the forums and the voting officers would vote on them. I have continued to have this role for most of TDG's history, although there were some times where others took over for me for weeks or months at a time, usually CHUNK, Shvegait, and/or The1stSeal. Later, we developed an application web form that various members could retrieve applications from to post on the forums, but that form has since gone down, and applications are now PM'd to me on our forums.
Over the next few years, I was involved in the playtesting and ongoing development of over 40 TDG maps with help from our playtesting members. I was heavily involved in maps such as The Eleventh Hour and Final Fantasy Forever (Xalterax), as well as the ongoing updates of maps such as Burbenog TD (Shvegait), Fiend TD, Possession TD, Demolition TD, and Spidering Willcage.
As Final Fantasy Forever's popularity exploded, we had to create a separate area on our forum, which was actually divided into 4 sub-forums, just to handle the FFF discussion. Shortly after this new popularity, I became one of the moderators of this section of the forum, due to the large amounts of spam, flaming, and posts on the wrong board. Later, Xalterax abandoned FFF, its popularity dwindled, and that forum was dissolved because it was no longer needed.
I also helped playtest a bunch of non-TDG maps such as Skibi TD and Minotaur's Labyrinth. Some of my comments on non-clan maps resulted in their authors joining TDG, such as with LilBlueSmurf and Minotaur's Labyrinth. At one time, CHUNK came up with the idea of offering our playtesting services to members of the mapmaking community, and I became one of the unofficial leaders of that project. We received various requests for playtesting help, and most of these requests were met with a lot of useful advice from our playtesters.
In late 2006, I took a rather long break from WC3, only getting on occasionally to help playtest maps or organize playtesting. This break lasted, on and off, until the summer of 2007. In recent times, I have also been a Game Night leader along with SeasonsOfLove, a three-time Mapathon entrant and one-time winner in Mapathon 2006, and a Mapathon 2007 judge. Since going off to college in Fall 2007, I have taken yet another break from WC3.
