[edit] Map Description

[edit] Gameplay

This map is a Warcraft version of the original hit arcade game called Gauntlet. The gameplay is modeled after the original Gauntlet with the intention of making the experience as close to the arcade game as possible.

  • The game is designed for any number of players from 1 to 4. The amount of food placed on each level and the amount of experience for kills is adaptive to the number of players - making the map more challenging for solo offline play.

[edit] Objective

Fight your way through 30 levels of Gauntlet, taking out spawners, fending off Death, and finding your way to the Exits. The map is broken into a series of smaller chapters, meaning that every 5 levels or so you will need to kill off creatively designed bosses. After each boss level, you are given a code to allow you the option of restarting after that boss - although sometimes it is in your best interest to build up your stockpile of keys, potions, and extra lives.

[edit] Features

  • Gauntlet Arcade has all of the classic Gauntlet features: key, potions, food (you can accidentally shoot), poison, gates, unlockable chests, permanent attack and armor upgrades, and even powerups like IT. Gold that you collect is automatically tranformed into an extra life after you have collected 5000. Quick-access pooling commands and auto-pooling on death allow you to quickly share your resources with other players to keep the action going.
  • The four classic Gauntlet heroes are represented: Warrior, Elf, Wizard, and Valkyrie - as well as four new heroes with specialized magic potions and different strengths and weaknesses: Vampire, Firelord, Cleric, and Thief.

[edit] More Info

  • This map is the product of several months of design and hours of testing by Clan TDG. The gameplay has been optimized for offline play (including LAN).
  • Software was developed by Shvegait to allow levels for this map to be designed in MS Excel and automatically translated into JASS. If you would like to contribute ideas or even design new levels for future versions of this map, a MS Excel template is available for download at the Clan TDG forums (link below).
  • You will not need to use a mouse to play this map if you choose to play the original (arrow key) version. If you have a joystick for your computer, the following link will take you to a site where you can download a converter that will allow you to play this game with your joystick: JOY2KEY
