Map Description
Objectives
Possession TD is a non-traditional tower defense map that combines elements of traditional tower defense maps with team vs. team siege warfare. The companion map to Fiend TD & Demolition TD, Possession pits four teams (1 or 2 players per team) against each other in a competition to be the first to destroy 50 rounds of pathing monsters before they reach the exit to their kingdom.
Gameplay
Each kingdom (team) is allowed 40 leaks (20 leaks destroys a castle) or until both of the castles in their kingdom have been destroyed. Pathing monsters that leak from one kingdom become the possession of any team that has completely destroyed all of their pathing monsters for that round. If leaks occur and no team has finished all of their pathing monsters or if all of the kingdoms leak, the monsters are destroyed. Captured monsters can be used to help defend a kingdom, used to mount assaults against other kingdoms, or exchanged for gold.
The towers and races from Possession TD are similar to those found in its companion maps (FIEND TD & Demolition) , which have been playtested at length for balance, tactical use, and characteristics consistent with the builder’s race.
- Possession TD can be played by a single player alone, a single team (2 players), or any number from 1 to 4 teams (1-8 players) head to head.
- The map compensates for single-player teams by providing them with exactly the same gold as two-player teams would receive.
Modes
Possession TD has multiple difficulty modes, as well as an optional mode where difficulties can be changed in game by a chat command, between rounds. Expert, Insane, and Ludicrous difficulties spawn monsters from the current round simultaneously with monsters from upcoming rounds, providing a challenge to more skilled players.
Changelog (v1-91)
- New spawning & pathing triggers. A little more efficient - simpler, fewer accesses, fewer regions. This change should not be outwardly visible to players.
- Skip between rounds feature added as a group-vote option for multiplayer game play. Similar to the one that was installed for single player. Requires a unanimous vote to skip the wait period.
- Air Round information command added. Just explains when air rounds are and will tell you how many rounds until the next air. Displays to triggering player only.
- Game Control Menu added to builders. Provides quick access to features that were previously chat commands (including the new skip and air commands and difficulty change options for flexible mode).
- Passive mode added. A game mode that restricts attempts to eliminate other teams. This was added so players have the option of playing without interference from other players. Pretty much all useful aggressive tactics are denied in this mode.
- New hotkeyed voting dialogs (one for mode followed by one for difficulty)
- Idle Worker icon changed to Possession Icon
- Information Inventory added to builders. All builders now carry a 6-slot inventory that come filled with information items when a new builder spawns. Items include information about leaks, elimination, difficulty settings, spawn armor cycles, game modes, builder differences, and other information that might be handy to have quick access to.
- Hero glows added to all builders that didn't have them previously to make them more easily distinguished.
- Minor typos and corrections to tooltips.

- Made some adjustments to stop towers from getting 'stuck' during an attack (not sure what the cause is or if I fixed it, but I tried)
- Passive mode has even fewer nuisance options
- Voting dialog issues for people who opt not to vote fixed
- Changed Penguin armor type to light from unarmored
