Map-making
I have been a member of Clan TDG since 2005. I was at first a strictly melee player, thinking that custom games were only for people who sucked at melee. However, I started casually playing custom games and soon started to mess around with the World Editor, as I know some programming and had a lot of ideas I wanted to put into action. After lots of messing around, I released my first map, Swarm. It was fun, but had many issues with it. This was a couple weeks before joining TDG. After joining TDG I worked on several map ideas, most of which I abandoned halfway through. However, this gave me much more experience with many parts of map-making. I eventually turned back to Swarm, as it was a map I knew I could finish, and I completed and released Swarm 2. It was mainly Swarm 1, but more polished and with much more efficient triggering. It also had issues, and in the end I think I actually like Swarm 1 more. Since the release of Swarm 2 I have had more trouble actually getting maps released. Strathic, somewhat of a non turn-based card game, was never actually released, but is in a finished and releasable state, while The Duel, a fast-paced map where right-clicking teleports the hero to that spot, is mostly completed but suffers from some core gameplay issues. Wizardry, a map in which I developed a unique way of casting spells and fighting, has all the framework laid out for it but very little actual content has been made. I've since taken a few long breaks from Warcraft 3, as school started to pick up. However, I am now back mapping, and I am currently working on Planeshifters, which is an attempt to improve on the original concept for The Duel, and is so far working well. I am also working on Seven Titans with Gwalchmai, although Seven Titans is a secondary focus at the moment.
